The Clinical Director, Smile 360, Dr Amy Traore-Shumbusho, has reiterated the need for people to maintain oral health hygiene in order to eliminate flawed dentition. Traore-Shumbusho, at the 7th edition of the company’s project smile campaign held in Lagos recently, lamented that many Nigerian youths had lost many opportunities and ended up being stigmatised due to cases of flawed dentition.
She said, “The technological advances in the oral industry and skilled dental practitioners make it possible for you to have the smile you’ve always dreamed of.
“There are people out there that might not have the means to visit a dental clinic for treatment because of the cost. Some people are affected by their flawed dentition and they may not be able to come to our centre for treatment. We thought of changing their smiles at no cost. So far, we have been able to transform 24 lives, I know we can do better than this because we aim to do 20 smile transformations every year.”
Traore-Shumbusho said the project was organised to raise the awareness of oral health, the importance of dentists in society and how smiles affect physical appearance.
