How Educating Vulnerable Communities Will Improve Healthcare Indicators, IROHES

The project Director, Iroko Healthcare Support Initiative (IROHES), Lookman Oshodi, has said equipping people in vulnerable communities with education will enable them to solve the challenges facing healthcare in their various communities.
Oshodi stated this during the foundation’s donation of writing materials to pupils and schools at Makoko/Iwaya Waterfront community in Lagos.
 
He said if the country is able to address the challenges confronting the education sector headlong, definitely it has a way of impacting the healthcare system, as both are interlinked “If people are well educated, schooled and well taught, definitely it has a way of improving the healthcare indicators because they will be aware of the healthcare challenges in their communities and how to resolve them,” Oshodi said.
 
Also speaking, the President, Support Switzerland and Artic Infrastructure, a Swiss-based a Non-Profit developmental aid organisation, Dr. Vincent da-Silva, stressed on the need educate the young ones in a vulnerable community, which he said would have a positive impact, noting that to overcome the hazards of nature, education is needed.
 
He said it is important to assist young people who wish to further their education, as they are the future leaders of the country.
 
“Sooner or later we will be fine and the world belongs to the young ones. If they are well educated, it means the outcome of the populace will be for everybody to be on the positive side, that is why we are interested to help the schools, the poor community, never minding how difficult. But at the same time assisting the young ones of today who should be in the position to learn the healthcare profession later on, because they are going to be the leaders of the country,” he said.
 
Da-Silver further said that the firm’s aim is to assist little children who want to have an education; ensure they are safe and as well have access to healthcare, which he described as “a chain reaction” that is interconnected.
 
One of the Community leaders and proprietors of the Ken-Ade group of schools, Ayeseminikan Bawo, who received the writing materials commended the gesture, noting that the educational materials will enable the students to learn without any hindrance, as the most pupil cannot afford it.
 
“Instead of the pupils using the money to buy this writing material, their parents will save that money because the school will supply the students with the donate materials for free and it will reduce what the parents will spend on educational.”
