UNTH Resident Doctors Apologise, Drop Petitions Against Management

On 26/Mar/2019 / In Medical News

In a sudden twist, the Association of Resident Doctors, University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (ARD, UNTH) has withdrawn petitions it wrote to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) against the Director of Finance, one Mr. Onuchukwu Chukwudi, calling for his sack and investigation.

This was contained in a communique the resident doctors issued at the end of the Supreme Congress of their ordinary general meeting, yesterday, at Ituku/Ozalla, signed by Dr. Akponye Solomon and Dr. Okam Izuchukwu,  President and General Secretary, respectively.

The doctors said after a review of their past actions and decisions, with respect to the protest embarked upon last December, against the Chief Medical Director (CMD) and management of UNTH Ituku/Ozalla, they resolved to tender an unreserved apology to the management, staff and board of UNTH for the misguided actions of the congress.

They said the information given to them by the association’s past executive, which informed their actions were baseless and vindictive against the management. The communique read: “The current executive council of ARD UNTH, led by Dr. Akponye Solomon, should address a press conference and withdraw the above baseless accusations against the management released to the public and offer an open apology to the CMD, management, staff and board of UNTH Ituku/Ozalla.

“The executive council should urgently withdraw the petitions in various anti-graft agencies, other ministries, departments and agencies of the Federal Government, and request them to expunge any such petitions on the subject matter written on behalf of the congress by anybody from their archives.”
