Experts at the Lagos State 2014 Ordinary General Meeting of the Medical Guild have stressed the need for the expansion of the mation's health care deliver service to address the overburden of the General Hospitals and other tertiary institutions in the country.
In their respective submission on the theme "The Roles of Doctors, Patients And Employers, In The Health Care Delivery Service, the medical experts reiterated the need for close co-operation with other Stake holders to create a road map, firmly and promptly arrest the prevailing arrest the prevailing unfortunate scourge, ravaging the sector:
To this end, they clamoured for a prompt arrest of the mass exodus of patients to the inadequate General Hospitals or Tertiary Institutions, rather than concentrating on the Primary Health Care Centres, which to certain extent, were being improved gradually especially at each Local Government Areas nationwide
in this direction, the medical and pre-medicl staff were also reminded of the need to be very cautious of the legak implications and other facilities that might unfortunately lead to the patients' untimely death, and might result ti litigation. They therefore urged the government to pay more attention to the health care sector of the economy by increasing the expected votes to measure with the present global demand to promptly arrest the unfortunate attendant increase in the mortality deficiency.
While commending some Governments on the present awesom turn around in the health care delvery they charge that constructive and meaninful efforts should be positivey geared to improve the walfare of the medical staff, to operate such ultramodern facilities provided for such service, as well as functionally educate the numerous poor masses and encourage them with greater facilities.,
In his welcome address, the Medical Guild Chairman Dr: Biyi Kufo, enumerated the Guild's achievements since his assumption of fice in 2013, and expressed his gratitude to members and other stake holders for their assistance, constuctive suggestions and meaningful criticism to move the organization forward.
