Psychiatric Nurses in Diaspora Partner Foundation On Health

The drive to improve health services in the country has got a boost as International Association of Psychiatric Nurses of Nigeria (IAPNN), United States of America declared its readiness to partner with Mr.Latin Foundation.
Initiator of the foundation and Nollywood actor, Bolaji Amusan, Put up the initiative last year as a means of promoting health and wellbeing of the underprivileged and hard drug victims in the society. He established a rehabilitation and hard drug victims in the society. 
He established a rehabilitation centre in the ogun State capital, Abeokuta, to take care of durg addicts in the socity with a view to restoring their mental health, and rehabilitating them to ensure their reintegration into the sociey. IAPNN, which has its headquarters in the USA, was impressed by Amusan's decision to addressing the menance of hard drug in the country.
The association, which was formed by nigerian Psychiatric Nurses worldwide, wrote a letter to the foundation to express it genuine interest to partner with Amusan.
The letter signed by IAPNN General Secretary, Charles Oguntade, read that "the association has been follwing with keen interest the involvement of the foundation in promoting the health and wellbeing of the society at large, and most importantly your proposed establishment of drug rehabilitation centre for individuals woth drug related problem".Explaining what prompted the association's decision, the letter stated that "guided by principle of self-determination, we are united actively to pursue a positive focus to improve all facets of mental health care services in Africa. 
"Our goal was to positively impact upon mental health of mother Africa with possible effect upon the mental health of Black communities across the globe. The 
association is designed to support quality delivery of care and services, impoverment and innovation in mental health care services in Africa."
The IAPNN General Secretary futher explanined that the association is growing from handful of professionals into a global organisation of over 2000 memebers worldwide, which was founded in landon, in August 2003,by a number of Nigerian Registered Psychiatric Nurses.
The group, however, disclosed that it has concluded arrangments to confer on amusan an award of 'Excellence in Community Leadership in Mental Health 
Promotion' at its next annual conference is slated to hold in New Hersey, USA, between May 28 and 30.
"It has been our practice in the last 10 years of our existence to offer award of excellence to indiviuals and groups which have contributed positive marks in health promotion at our dinner night," the statement said.
