Central Bank of Nigeria Nurse Urges Colleagues to Embrace Digital Technology

  IBADAN- Mrs Lucy Mbanefo, a nurse with the Central Bank of Nigeria, Enugu has urged nurses in the country to embrace digital trchnology to boost their profession Mbanefo made this appeal in Ibadan while delivering a keynote address at the 14th Annual address at the 14th Annual workshop of nurses at the University College Hospital, (UCH) Ibadan.The workshop with the theme "Transforming Nursing through Technlogy" was organised by the Continuing Education unit of the UCHMbanefo said the time has come for a tramsformation in the nursing profession, adding that digital rechnology was imperative for a continued global relevance in the nursing profession in NigeriaShe said digital technology was now being used by every profession and individual because of its adaptability, dexterity and presision She advised nurses to embrace e-health in its entirety."Tel e-health is generally used as an umbrella term to describe the direct provision of clinical care via telecommunications diagnosing, treating, or following-up on a patient at a distance."Tel e-nursing means using telecommunications technology in nursing improve patient care."The nature of nursing practice remains the same although the use of technology changes the delivery medium of nursing care," she said.Earlier, Prof. Temitope Alonge, Chief Medical Director, UCH, Ibadan, said that the theme of the workshop was appropriate, adding that it was appropriate, adding that it was long overdue.He said nurses must be IT compliant in other to have the knowledge of the electronic devices used to provide health care delivery.Alonge added that management would dod everything possible to assist the nurses in ensuring that they become IT compliant in their profession. In her address of welcome, Mrs Oyebola Oaswuwa, Head Clinical Nursing, UCH, said the theme was relevant to the current disposition in health care and society. "The theme was also chosen to key into the vision of the chief Medical Director of UCH, with regards to his computerisation efforts in the hospital," she said
