Professor Akinsany, Olayide Osibogun, the Chief Medical Director; Lagos Unrverstry Teaching Hospital, LUTH. understands the importance of quality and accessible healthcare in any society and this he has been working quietly to achieve with this tertiary hospital. When he was appointed as the CMD, Prof Osibogun came in with a clear vision to make the leaching hospital rise higher by using appropriate and advanced technology to develop medical manpower for the country and in a timely fashion, provide quality health services to Nigerians and others who may seek care in LUTH. Explaining what he met on ground when he came on board. the Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health, U.K. said came in at a time when there seemed to be some despondence in the air,people were doing what they considered to be their best bilt me results were not in agreement with the efforts. Most of Ute hospital's operating theaters were dvsfunctlona due to funding and priority challenges, The main power house. which was over 30 years old and broken down had also to be rehabthtated. With that in mind and with prayers.I set to work. The polities and strategies adopted were simply to get the infrastructures rehabilirated so that the theatres. the clinics, the laboratories and the wards could become functional again. I must. acknowledge the grace of God In all what we have been able to do", 
Understanding that the Federal Govemment alone cannot adequately provide the funding for the facihties required to drive Ins Vision, the goal-oriented medical practitioner decided to restore institutional confidence in the hospital so that man." private institutions could partner with if. Speaking on the effort of the private sector in the revitalization of LUTH, he said: 
"There was so much loss of institutional confldence when I became the CMD such thar when the then Managing Director of Skye Bank agreed to our request for the bank to donate a building for the expansion of our Accident and Emergency Department, not many of the staff believed it. In fact, only one or two HODs attended the foundation Jaying programme.Today, that building stands providing additional 36 bed spaces to the previously existing 26 Accident, and Emergenly beds.The building also has facilities tor 4 Call-Duty Rooms, 15 Guest Rooms, an ultramodern laboratory. Sleep-Centre and a Banking Hall. We have also received focused partnership from reputable firms such as the Shell Group, Chevron. 
Guinness Nigeria and Flour Mills among others. In all these partnership, our general approach has nor been to request for money but to request lor delivery of projects". 
"In line with national priorities and the Millennium Development Goals, one other area in which we have focused on is child health. We rapidly rehabilitated our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit which had dysfunctional incubators and rodav we can boast of over 40 functional Incubators, the largest holding by any health instirurion in Nigeria. We have also expanded am paediatric bed space from so in 2006 to 160 today, while' another building to provide additional 90 bed spaces will be ready 
in the first quarter of 2014 bringing the number of paedlatrtc bed spaces to 250. By middle of 2014, our hospital would have become a 1,000 bedded hospital excluding the beds at our Pakoro Health Centre",
The Lagos University Teaching Hospital under his leadership, has developed capabilites for Minimally Invasive Surgery Laparoscopic and Endoscopic). Renal Transplantation, Microvascular Surgery and Mandibular Bone Reconstruction, Joint Replanement Surgery (Total Hip and total Knee etc, the Hospital has been Inserting Cardiac Pacemakers for the past 15 years and the capability has been further enhanced. Diagnostic facilities have witnessed tremendous improvements with the acquisition of State of the Art cr Scanner- the Aquillon 128-Slice cr Scanner. Echo- Cardiograph Machines, Digital X.-Ray Machines, Immuno-Hisrochemistry Machine etc. The Hospital is in a better position to carry out its mandates of training service find research as" Teaching Hospital. 
Since his assumption of office. he has also paid important attention to the health of rural dwellers, The assigned rural practice area of the Teaching Hospital at Pakoro in Ogun State has felt the .impact of rapid expansion 01 service delivery as Community Dentistry, Comrnunirv Psychiany and Community Eye (Ophtnalmology) Services have all been introduced over the past 4 years while Community Surgery Services are expected to debut in 2014. 
The facilities of the Hospital at Pakoto pro- vide Primary Health Care Services to some 30 communities in Ogun Stare, Long term plans for this Centre include the establishment of a Centre for Palliative Care and Hospital Services. a Health Farm for Health Promotion and Rejuvenative Health. an Internarional Centre for Training for Primary Health Care and a Medico-Pharmaceutical Industrial Complex. The Pakoto Centre of the Lagos University 'leaching Hospital is therefore set to become the first Medical Village in Nigeria and possibly in Africa, The CMD bagged his MBRS degree. from the College of Medicine, University of Lagos and he has a Masters in Public Health from the Columbia University New York. Prior to his appolnrrnent as theChief Medical Dtrector 7 years ago, the Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria and the West African College of PhYSicians who also belongs to other reputable national and International professional bodies had rendered his medical and administrative services in different capacities. He also has several publications to his credit LUTH has continued to evolve and irs personnel have continued to work hard to achteve its mandates and only an expertenced medical professional who has proven his administrative competence like Prof Osibogun could haw efficiently harnessed its human and material resources to record the giant strides of the past seven years. Giving his advtce to medical pracrhioners in Nigeria, the apostle of quality health service said: "We should rededicate ourselves to our calling, let us revisit the Hippocratic Oath with fresh commitment and It  all medical professionals recognize that the patient should be the focus of our attention. Let the young be patient to learn at the feet of theolder, because whether they like it or not. they will also become older too. We must develop enduring quality systems that will improve patient outcomes and promote health workers sattsfactlon".
