Veterinary Council of Nigeria Hails FUNAAB as Varsity Inducts 43 Vet Doctors

On 14/Jun/2018 / In Medical News

The Veterinary Council of Nigeria has said the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State has all it takes to produce veterinary doctors that can compete favourably with their colleagues globally.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Head, Directorate of Public Relations of the institution, Dr. Linda Onwuka, after the induction and admission of 43 graduates of FUNAAB’s College of the Veterinary Medicine into the veterinary profession.

The statement quoted the Acting Registrar of the Veterinary Council of Nigeria, Dr. Josiah Kantiyok, as saying that the “exceptional quality of FUNAAB’s veterinary medicine programme and the quality of its training scheme are capable of producing graduates that will favourably compete with their counterparts internationally.”

According to Onwuka, the Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, Prof. Kolawole Salako, said the graduates were among the best on the continent, noting that the university did not only train the veterinary doctors “but we go the extra mile to build them.”

Salako, who said the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine programme in FUNAAB was accredited in 2009, said the university had worked hard to improve on learning through the provision of training facilities in the College of Veterinary Medicine.

This, he said, was done to maintain high standard and excellence and “to ensure that our veterinary doctors can compete favourably with their colleagues within and outside the country.”
