Adolescents And Young Peoples Participation In Nigerias HIV Response Call For Entries

The National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) with support from UNICEF and in partnership with Population Council are seeking low cost innovative ideas, scalable and sustainable solutions which will enable meaningful participation of adolescents and young people in the HIV response in Nigeria. We would like to see innovative ways to improve and deliver accurate information about HIV, strengthening referrals for HIV testing services, condom messaging and distribution, retention in care and support. The winning entry is expected to ensure AYP participation and meaningful engagement in the HIV response at the National, State and Local government levels.
 
We are looking for:
. Innovative, sustainable, low-cost and well-thought-out measurable strategies to reach 200,000 adolescents and young people with comprehensive HIV knowledge within 6 months.
. Innovative and sustainable ways to engage 100,000 adolescents and young people to participate in the HIV response at the Federal, State and Local Government level
. Innovative, sustainable, measurable referral and linkage strategies to ensure 3,000 adolescents and young people receive HIV tests, know their results, and are enrolled in treatment care and support.
 
Winners will also receive technical support on, use of data and evidence, project design, implementation, financial management, monitoring and evaluation.
 
Challenge statement
Using adolescent participation approaches, identify and develop replicable, sustainable, low-cost innovations which can deliver comprehensive HIV knowledge and strengthen referrals for HIV testing, treatment and care at scale to contribute to the achievement of the 90-90-90 goals in Nigeria.
Prizes
3 million naira for up to 3 awards. 
 
Funds must go towards implementing your innovative idea and will be disbursed on agreed milestones.
 
Eligibility
. Proposals must be developed and submitted by a youth-led organization, group of young persons aged 15-27, supported by a mentor. For example, a teacher, board member, community leader, alumni. 
. Participants under the age of 18 will require parental consent.
 
Successful proposals 
• Winning proposals ideas will be announced on May 25th, 2018. 
• Successful appicanb must be available to participate in a technical training workshop in Abuja. 
• At the end of the training en award will be provided to each of the winning teams to help the organbation/group Implement their prefect from June to October 2018. 
 
Judging Criteria 
A Jury of health and development professionals will evaluate the proposals and select winning proposals based on the followng criteria: 
✓ Relevance: Entries mast be reteveat to I-11V. adolescents ono young people. 
✓ AYP-led: Entries am developed and clearly led by young people. ✓ AYP- focused: Entries should focus and demonstrate the ability to target and reach the most vulnerable. such as adolescent girls, young key populations, young persons with disabilities and other subgroups. 
✓ Innovative: Envies must demonstrate the use of innovarw approaches to reads large numbers of adolescents and young people and may use innovative tochrolnjos for example, social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Fazotook, Instzgram, mobile phones, games and other tech related platforms. 
✓ Replicable: Entries sheik be roplicable and adaptable by others at low oast to ensure broader Implemental on and uptake as quickly as pastille in similar settings. 
✓ Scalable: Entre, must dernorstrete hon. tney can be scaled beyond the plot phase to large scale responses that can be implemented at greater/national scale. 
✓ Sustainable: Entries must demonstrate how they are implernentable in the longer term (beyond the liecycle of prize kaidng of six months) using the resources that tad), exist or which can be incremental to wasting service deivory. 
✓ Measurable: Entries must be measurable in terms of Impact on adolescents and young peoples lives. 
✓ Costevffective: Entries mot provide an estimated cost to dekvor the challenge targets and demonstrate affordability Ilow-cou or no-cost to the endus...Iv/0in resource limited settings. 
✓ Stigma free: It must ensure privacy, demonstrate an ability to not perpetuate stigma and disaimilaticel associated with ury and enhance active community participation. 
✓ Achieving substantive change: Successful anises are expected to change the processes and other barriers that prevent adolescents and young people born participation and receiving the best care possble. 
 
Applications from individuals and groups not older than 27 years are particularly welcome for this challenge!
