The Healthcare Leadership Academy (HLA) is proud to bring you the call for applications for the third cohort of our Healthcare Executives Leadership Programme (HELP) holding in October 2017.
The Healthcare Leadership Academy serves as a platform through which healthcare professionals can build those core skills in leadership, management and quality improvement such that they are able to effectively deliver quality healthcare, efficiently manage scarce resources, and meet the continuously evolving needs of the populations they serve.
By providing tailor made, world class programmes that are specific to the sub-Saharan African context where we operate, the HLA aims to transform healthcare in Africa by developing a generation of healthcare leaders who excel in governance and provision of quality services
The Healthcare Executives Leadership Programme (HELP).
HELP is a one-year fellowship programme designed to respond to the learning and career development needs of senior healthcare executives such as Chief Medical Directors, Heads of Clinical Services, Heads of large hospital departments, and Chairmen of Medical Advisory Committees for example.
Participants who complete this programme are well equipped with the critical skills that they need to provide quality health services, maintain financially sustainable organisations, and ultimately improve the health outcomes of their local populations.
The HELP Curriculum
The curriculum is delivered using the best of teaching approaches in executive education. Participants are taught through a combination of lectures, facilitated discussions, and case based learning using cases that illustrate the current realities healthcare executives are faced with as they manage institutions in Africa.
The curriculum focuses on building capabilities in four core areas:
- Financial Management
- Leadership and Organisational Development
- Population Health and Health Systems
- Quality Improvement in Leadership
The HELP Structure
The programme is delivered in two distinct phases:
· Classroom instruction: The curriculum is delivered on Fridays and Saturdays for 8 consecutive weekends.
· Experiential learning: To ensure that the knowledge gained in the classroom is understood and readily applied to real life experiences, at the end of the classroom training period, participants are mentored and supported by our expert faculty for a period of 9 months as they carry out a facility based improvement project.
We bring together an excellent faculty of highly skilled academics and thought leaders with years of experience working successfully with, and building the capacity of, senior healthcare practitioners, managers and policymakers. Our faculty members include experts from institutions that are recognized for their excellence both locally and internationally such as the Lagos Business School, Duke University and Judge Business School University of Cambridge for example.
Who are we looking for
If you are a healthcare executive of a hospital, diagnostic center, clinic, or healthcare centre - for example, the Chief Medical Director or Chairman of Medical Advisory Committee or Head of Clinical Services or Head of Business Development - this programme is for you!
Credits and Fees
Participants are eligible for 20 Continuing Medical Education (CME) points upon successful completion of the programme.
Successful applicants will be offered full scholarships for tuition only.
All classroom training will take place in Lagos State.
